Merit-based Scholarships
Merit-Based Scholarships:
Every year, we are offering SIX Merit-based scholarship opportunities for undergraduate students majoring in any Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) subject at Shahjalal University of Science and Technology, Bangladesh.
‘Professor Gauranga Deb Roy Memorial Scholarship’ of BDT 25,000.
‘Professor Meraj Uddin Mondal Memorial Scholarship’ of BDT 25,000.
‘Professors Roy-Mondal-Miah Memorial Scholarship’ of BDT 25,000.
These scholarships are offered in recognition of the contribution of three Legend Professors of the Department of Mathematics, SUST as an expression of our deepest respect and honor.
‘Women in STEM scholarship’ of BDT 25,000 for women students in any STEM subjects.
Two ‘CEP Merit-based scholarships of BDT 20,000 for SUST undergraduate students in Chemical Engineering & Polymer Science at SUST.
Need-based Scholarships/ Paid Internships
Need-Based Paid Internships:
Every year we offer 10 to 25 need-based internships, valued at BDT 20,000 each. These opportunities are open to all students—across both STEM and Social Science disciplines—who face genuine financial barriers to their education. Funded by the generous contributions of our Alumni and the global SUST family, the final number of internships awarded is determined by fund availability.
Recipients will benefit from free career-readiness trainings throughout the year and will receive a formal certificate of completion upon finishing the internship program.
Zakat Fund (Paid Internships)
Zakat Fund (Paid Internships):
Emergency funds for educational expenses of BDT 12,000 from ZAKAT for any student at Shahjalal University of Science and Technology, Bangladesh who needs this support. The total numbers of Emergency Zakat fund support will depend on the availability of funds from Alumni and greater families of Shahjalal University of Science and Technology, Bangladesh.
Recipients will benefit from free career-readiness trainings throughout the year and will receive a formal certificate of completion upon finishing the internship program.
Description, requirements and how to apply for the scholarships:
Only undergraduate students from Shahjalal University of Science and Technology (SUST), Bangladesh are eligible to apply. Merit-based scholarships are for SUST undergraduate students majoring in any Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) subject. Need-based paid Internships are for any SUST students from STEM or Social Science. For Merit-based scholarships, students who need the support will get more priority. Meritorious Students currently participating in extracurricular activities, social or cultural activities (not political) will have priority in selection.
Students who receive Need-based or Zakat-funds paid internships will be offered a series of Leadership and Career readiness trainings throughout the year. A certificate of completion of all trainings will be provided at the end of the Internship year.
An application packet will include:
i. Applicants' resume/CV including demographic information like home districts, religious beliefs, family income etc.
ii. Photocopies or scanned copies of transcripts or Marksheets of SSC, HSC, or equivalent up to the last semester of study,
iii. Recommendation letters from at least two SUST faculty including student’s departmental advisor.
iv. A statement of purpose for the scholarship.
All the materials need to be submitted electronically before February 15, 2026. All applications will be verified, and applications will be primarily selected by a committee of SUST faculty. After primary selection, the selection team will interview the selected applicants for final selection. Selected students will be informed of acceptance by mid-March.
